Go to the tab called "Ensemble Information" and select "Marching Band" to hear the arrangements of our "Phantom of the Opera" show. This is some great music to perform.

Hello Manchester High School Band Families,
We are saving a few stamps and using e-mail to get in touchabout the start of a new school year. Mr. Cancellieri and I are eager to greet all of our new and returningband members very soon!
Success in band has a lot to do with each student’s drive, determination, curiosity, and work ethic. We would like to offer our students 10 tips for a great start that should lead to a greater finish in 2016-17.
#1) – Be ready for the start of school by making sure thatyour instrument is in working order. Visit one of our fine local music stores (Beller’s, DuBaldo’s, Music & Arts, Summit Studios) for repairs and adjustments.
#2) If you can, take private music lessons with a professional instructor who is an expert on your instrument. Both Mr. Berry and Mr. Cancellieri can offer advice if necessary.
#3) If you need to rent an instrument this year, please have your parents e-mail Mr. Berry at email@example.com on or before August 22, 2016. (All percussionists will pay a user fee of $50 that includes both instruments and sticks/mallets.)
#4) Designate a place for focused practicing at home. A wire, folding music stand is very importantand we also recommend a tuner, a metronome, and/or tuner & metronome apps.
#5) All reed players (clarinet, oboe, bassoon, & saxophone) must always have 3 working reeds available at all times. When one breaks or wears out…replace it.
#6) We are on a mission to get more/many MHS Band members involved in the CMEA Eastern Regional auditions this year. It is not easy, iti s a great challenge, and it can be a remarkably rewarding experience. TAKE THE CHALLENGE!
#7) Our first concert of the year will be on the evening of Tuesday, September 20. We will all wear our new band t-shirt and comfortable pants as our uniform that night. All band parents will attend a Manchester Band Parents Association meeting while the students prepare to play a mini-concert scheduled for approximately 8:00. More details will follow.
#8) Get in the habit of checking the band website often: www.mhsbands.webs.com
#9) The MHS Marching Band starts on Monday August 22. Thye music is "Phantom of the Opera" and includes a trip to see the Broadway show on September 24! We have more slots to fill and membership is voluntary. Contact Mr. Berry immediately if you are interested.
#10) We can’t wait to say hello….make sure that you start your practicing today so that you are ready to go!

All Concert Band performers need to be dressed in a unified way. Please click on the "ENSEMBLE INFORMATION" tab and look at the Concert Band location to find a very specific description of our concert attire. Shop for these items well in advance of our December concert, please.
Any band member who needs financial assistance to purchase their concert attire should contact Mr. Berry or Mr. Cancellieri.
